During a family meal we were discussing the possibility of mandatory RFID chips for livestock and one of my children came up with the following observation.
“If you do not comply to RFID-ing your animals, you will be arrested and put in jail. Then they’ll put the chip in YOU!â€
Today, we are told, that the program is voluntary. However, the following caveat is attached to the voluntary tag. It is expected that all will comply. Those who don’t will be labeled non-conformists. There is also a not-so-veiled threat to make the program mandatory if there isn’t 100% voluntary compliance. Doesn’t that sound “funny†to you?
Fines are mentioned. What is not mentioned are the penalties for those who don’t comply and either won’t or can’t pay the fines. I expect that it will be like any other government fine. Property (I.E. livestock) could be confiscated and the violator could face criminal charges.
RFID seems like a fine idea for prisons. Just think, they can keep track of the human inventory! Not much different than tracking livestock, is it? It is also not much different than the Nazis tracking Jewish people during World War 2.
